ABOUT THE BOOK

Agricultural extension is a key to sustainable agricultural development. The global change in economic policies and advancement in technologies have brought a complete shift in extension approaches worldwide. It has introduced new trends such as market led extension, cyber extension and private extension to the discipline. In view of this, ICAR nominated the 5^th Dean’s Committee to suggest relevant modification and changes in the course curricula of all disciplines at UG level.

This book will provide a road map to basics of human values and professional ethics. The scope and the horizons of value education can be easily understood by going through some thought provocative statements in the coming chapters. The mind and its relationship with the body, soul can be better realize by going through the contents in details. The personality of the self and then looking beyond the self is the new dimensions of understanding the best of us we have. The universal value and the ethics and moral stories will provide an insight view of the Rishis and munis of Vedic era. The professional standard and the ethical relationship will lead the professors as well as the students to get a practical approach in the life.

This BOOK is designed as per the revised curricula of B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture programme recommended by the 5^th Dean’s Committee of ICAR. The chapters have been incorporated in such a way that made it easily understandable to the students to make it more clear and attractive. Pictures, graphs, figures, etc. are used at appropriate places.

The chapters for this book have been drafted with great care and expertise in the area. Constructive ideas and scholarly suggestions are welcome from students and teachers involved respectively. Such ideas will be incorporated for the greater efficacy while revising the book.

L. LAL (Somani) is Retired Director Resident Instructions, MPUAT, Udaipur. He has over 400 research and technical articles to his credit. He has authored/edited over 145 scholarly books in various field of agriculture. Prof. Somani has been honored with several academic excellence awards for his outstanding achievements.
