Description
ABOUT THE BOOK
Several books are available on entomology, each one emphasising a particular section of entomology. An undergraduate student interested to learn basic aspects of different facets of entomology has to depend upon a number of each such book. The authors have felt the urgent need of a comprehensive textbook on fundamentals of entomology. An attempt has been to write a comprehensive textbook on entomology to help students who cannot afford to buy many standard books or who do not have the facilities to refer to all the standard books under one roof. The 5th deans committee of ICAR has prescribed a uniform syllabus for UG students of all SAUs in the country titled FUNDAMENTALS OF ENTOMOLOGY. The required information is at present scattered in different books providing exhaustive information on the subject matter. The authors hope that this book will meet the primary needs of UG as well as PG students.
The book covers the entire syllabus including history of entomology in India, insect morphology, insect ecology, categories of pests, IPM, classification of insecticides, toxicity of insecticides, topicality of pesticides, chemical control, recent methods of pest control, insecticides act, application techniques of spray fluids, symptoms of poisoning, first aid and antidotes, insect systematic, classification of insects up to orders
In preparing this textbook, the authors have made special efforts to concur with the authors of these books in the matter of anatomical terms, in order that students may as far as possible be spared from confusion likely to arise in turning from one treatise to another.
Illustrations have been freely drawn from the common heritage of entomology contributed by many workers in different parts of the world who have devoted themselves to the study of insect.
