ABOUT THE BOOK

This book closely follows the syllabus prescribed by the universities in Extension Education and Community Science. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research has recently revised the syllabus for the graduate students and added new dimensions to the courses. This syllabus has been prescribed common for all the universities in India. With the inclusion of new courses in the syllabus, the old books on this subject became obsolete. The need for new books with recent concepts and information became the need of the hour. The students will understand the concept, philosophy, principles and objectives of Extension Education and its contributions towards rural development and they will develop understanding about selected rural development programmes of government and ICAR.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Dr. Vishakha Bansal is presently working as Professor in the Department of Extension Education & Communication Management, CCAS, MPUAT, Udaipur. She is at present posted in All India Coordinated Research Project: Home Science. She is Technical Coordinator of AICRP – H.Sc. Extension Component. She obtained her M.Sc. degree in Home Science Extension Education in 1994 from RAU, Bikaner and Ph.D. degree in Home Science Extension and Communication Management in 2006 from MPUAT, Udaipur, Rajasthan. She has 23 years’ of service experience in Extension, Teaching and Research. She has guided 4 PG students and at present co-advisor of 7 PG students.

She has 40 research paper in NAAS rated National and International Journals, 65 popular articles, 1 book, 25 technical bulletins, 20 radio talks, 6 folder/leaflets, and 2 book chapters. She is life member of 4 professional societies and received 5 Professional awards of National and State repute.

Dr. Prakash Panwar is presently serving in Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, Rajasthan as Professor and Head, Department of Extension Education and Communication Management, College of Community and Applied Sciences. She did her B.Sc. in Home Science and M.Sc. in Home Science Extension Education from Rajasthan Agriculture University, Bikaner. She started her Professional care eras Training Associate in the year 1995 and joined MPUAT, Udaipur (Earlier RAU, Bikaner) in the year 1996 as Assistant Professor (Training Associate) in Krishi Vigyan Kendra.

She obtained Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Home Science Extension and Communication Management in the year 2004 from Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur. She has 24 years of experience in extension & teaching and published 1 book, 18 research papers and 23 technical material &15 popular articles. She has also published seven success stories of farm women empowered through KVK’s. She is life member of 4 Professional Societies of Extension Education. She has received 7 professional awards of State and National repute.

Dr. N. R. Meena is presently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Extension Education , College of Agriculture ANDUAT, Kumarganj, Ayodhya, U.P. India. He did his B.Sc. Ag (Hons), M.Sc. and Ph.D. (Extension Education)from Rajasthan, College of Agriculture, MPUAT, Udaipur, Rajasthan. Dr. Meena has five year of experience in Teaching, Research and Extension activities. Dr. Meena authored 2 books and published many research papers in National and International peer reviewed Journals. He has also published many popular articles. He has been honoured with many awards and achievements for his successful contribution in teaching and research areas.

Prof. (Dr.) L.L. Somani (b.1945) Retired Director (Rl) & Dean PG Studies, MPUAT Udaipur has over 400 papers published in National and International Journals/ Symposia, etc. and 15 dozen of books to his credit in different disciplines of Agriculture and allied field. He held different positions in MPUAT, has Spreaded highly innovative ideas, and programmes for development of Agriculture. Prof. Somani has been honoured with several awards.
